    Debt-free and Proud!
Now you just file and respond to the paperwork as you need to as debts get sold etc.... The time will pass in a blink of an eye. When I started my DMP it was all encompassing out of work, couldnt stop dwelling on it but now its just a low hum in the background and its nearly gone. Its very sad when you actually look forward to seeing your standing orders go out and the credit card statements showing a reducing balance! lol

I'm 3 years into my dmp and when I first started had an obsession with checking my bank account on line which I never did before - couldn't look at it. I'm still the same now - think I've developed an OCD with seeing money in my account for the last 2 weeks before payday each month!

An important point to remember to make sure your payments are going to the right people when the debt is sold.

Wonderful not to be terrified by the phone ringing or the postman dropping bills on the mat.

  • Thanks for all your replies.

I will be sure to keep a close eye on everything and make sure its all going to the right people. Its so confusing though when some companies corresponde with the CCCS and some with us? Barclays Partner Finance are still ringing my DH at least 10 times a day. I've sent them 3 letters now using the templates on this site. They have been given the 28 days notice to stop using our numbers but what do I do when the 28 days is over? Who do I report them to?

Its a sunny day here and I intend to enjoy it, the weekend is almost here and I can even afford to buy a bottle of wine tonight (it will have to last the weekend though!) :j

Refer everyone asking for money back to CCCS (they will try it on anyway). You should still get statements from you creditors. Useful for checking about any charges etc particularly at the start that may adjust your balance, let CCCS know if these charges change things as being accurate with what you still owe is vital.

  • Hi,

Yes I did that yesterday as LloydsTSB are charging me for last month but have stopped charges from the end of February. Changed the total on the CCCS website. I know the totals will go up before they start going down but I'm clinging onto the knowledge that they will go down very soon!

Hi SHELLSHOCK, today we most the phonecall that will be the start of our DMP too, although id made some agreements with people, tbh it wasnt really enough and i just couldnt deal with the stresses it was brining, so we are setting things up with PAYPLAN, paperwork for us to sign should be through post soon, and then they will negotiate on our behalf. Only place i have to make a "token payment" to at the moment is for the Personal Loan I've had, have been advised to go to the bank and speak with someone there, and cancel any DD i have with them, and quote my case number with PAYPLAN, and hopefully things shouldnt be too snotty. I sure hope not as this is the one i was dreading!

    Hi Ceehaydee23

Well done for making that call - you should feel a sense of relief at finally doing something to change things.

If you can't face going into the bank then write them the standard letter about going on a DMP and send the token payment with it.

    Take care
