Just a warning to you all.
I was in H&B yesterday and chose to buy 2 packs of yogurty raisins (£1.25 per pack) and 2 tubs of lutein (£12.49 per pack). I put them down on the counter in two seperate piles, deliberately keeping the lutein back (I'd read the small print ;)). The assistant scanned the raisins and quickly grabbed the lutein to scan it too. I told her I wanted to pay for the raisins seperately and she was rather unhappy with this, and more so when I explained why. Maybe I just got a mean assistant, but thought I'd warn you all. As with most bogof or similar offers the cheapest one is free (or in this case 1p) and when buying multiple bogo1p the cheapest ones are 1p!!

Had I let her put it all through together I'd have spent £25 to save £2.50 - not MSE at all!!By putting the deals through seperately it cost me £13.76 instead!!
You wouold have still got the right deal, the tills are programmed to price match the stuff on promotion.
We have had loads of memos about it all.
if you bought 4 different items on promotion at £18.99, £15.99, £10.99 & £9.99, you would pay full price for £18.99 get the £15.99 product for 1p, pay £10.99 & get the £9.99 item for 1p.
The tills are programmed to do this as it stops us having to do loads of transactions for one customer.

  • The offer does work out the best deal,
thats not to say that the prices havent gone up on purpose,
like it appears they do before every offer.
I.e, licorice sticks, bogo1p, all ones on offer went up by 4p the day the offer started, as did a few other products.
Nothing to do with offer but spirulina soya has doubled in price in less than a month, once going up £5 in less than a week.

I have lots of dealings with HnB and find they continually change prices but always have their staff preprogrammed with a million excuses.

Just ask why the whey has gone up so dramatically.

The liquorice was 55p each, day of promotion they put it up to 59p each, then on Friday they sent price corrections out again and changed the price back to 55p.
The Whey proteins price increase is ridiculous, it was on half price on the last promotion at £13.99 new offer started and they increased the price to about £29.99 or more. They obviously lost too much money having all the precision engineering half price.

Id love to hear the excuse you were given in another shop for the price increase lol.

Just wanted to let everyone know, I was overcharged on my online order. I made a order for £48, but when i received the products the delivery note stated I was charged £57.

I called customer services the same day and they said that there have been some problems and they are trying to work through them. I called on Saturday to ask them the rectify the mistake and haven't yet had a response. I called today and the lady said that there have been so many issues that it's taking a while.

Just wanted to let you guys know

Thats ridiculous, there has been a few of the offers not going thru the tilll correctly, but when I have been putting things through I have been making sure they go throu correctly or manually adjusting it.
I dont see why they cant rectify the problem easily.
Us in the shops are telling them when offers dont work!

sorry, i was only trying to be helpful, i didnt expect such a bad response. i wont bother again in fututre.
When they had the "buy one get one half price" sale they put up the prices.

But there's usually much less of a hike on the food (stuff maybe went up 20-50p, though some stayed the same). So I still got bargains. Esp. since I split the order up and dot the more expensive stuff scanned separately from the cheap stuff - to maximise the discount.

I'm planning on dropping in today.

My online order was sorted out, they called me and refunded the extra charge back on to my card. Also thought I'd add i ordered 2 of each item, so each product was full price plus a second for 1p. Seems like the shops are being cheeky, as my online order for products on offer was calculated fairly.

I saved quite a lot on necessities!
