This seems like an amazing bargain to me, although I haven't researched elsewhere.

I paid about £10 for an SD card MP3 player from either https://www.7dayshop.com
or https://www.mymemory.com (can't remember - they both do them).
It is tiny and square with a mirror finish. The sound quality is very good. Also if you have a card reader on your PC it's really easy to drag and drop the music tracks onto the card. These little cheapies will never compare to an Ipod for functionality but you're unlikely to get mugged wearing it so that's a bonus!0
