Thank you all for you comments.
The bank account I have with Halifax is a joint account. Can LLoydsTSB take money out of that account?
Will the bank take money from the account as soon as I let them know I am in trouble?.
Should I not contact my bank untill I have moved all my money?
The COOP have been mentioned as a possible bank to use. But I have a CC with Tesco that I believe is connected to COOP.
Is there a list that I can look at for banks and their connections?
Sorry for all the questions but I am trying to cover all the aspects before the you know what hits the fan....

AFAIK although Halifax and LTSB are the same group there is no right of set-off between them.

They could however probably share info. The Co-op is not connected to Tesco and most people find their customer service better than the Big Four.

We felt a misplaced loyalty to LloydsTSB as we had both been with them for 25+years, however we soon realised that they felt no loyalty whatsoever to us.

We felt a huge sense of relief to move to the Co-op, we now have no other cards AT ALL except our Co-op debit cards and with no overdraft either we know that if its not there we can't have it! It's a wieght off our shoulders to know that once the direct debits have come out and our DMP pyament comes out the money thats left is actually ours!

I would check out the connections between banks 1st and then move everything over, leaving your old accounts and debts in the past (obviously still paying them off through your DMP).

Well I contacted LLoydtsb to explain my situation and asked for assistance. The women was very off hand and just told me that all I can do is contact CCCS.
So:- I have completed an application for a new CO OP account.
I have completed the CCCS form and am now waiting to hear from CCCS regarding my next move.

    Well done you!

The next couple of weeks/months will be a bit hectic and at times stressful but I promise you will start to feel so much better.

    Keep us informed.

Sounds like LTSB! Well done - hope it all works out with CCCS and Co-Op
