Job Interview - I need some advice please!

Hello!
Having been self-employed for over 23 years, very successfully, I had to give up that work due to problems with my health.
I have been looking for another job - and I have an interview. :j
However, the last time I had an interview was to get into University!
What is politically correct to wear to an interview now?
The position I have applied for is as a Sales Consultant for a Kitchen Design Company.
Does it have to be a plain suit? Or could I wear a patterned skirt with a black jacket, for example? Or does it have to be a white blouse?
Can I wear a trousersuit?
Can I wear a skirt with knee-length boots?
What else do I need to know???
I would be grateful for any advice please?

I think as long as you look smart and well-groomed any of those things you mention would be OK. (Assuming you are female of course!). :rotfl:(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I would go (if I were you) in normal business wear. Personally I wouldnt go for knee high boots (or FMB's as they used to be known then I was at school) as I dont think they are particularly professional and whilst yours are probably not "kinky boots" they do have that conertation with many people.
Working in banking/ insurance there are a lot of "old school" types out there who would expect you to be in traditional dress (white shirt/ blouse, dark plain suit etc) where as in a media company they would probably be more impressed with style than tradition.
Prehaps it is an idea to go into the store to see what their existing employees where? Is it traditional/ designer/ colourful etc?All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

As SDW (above) stated, as long as you wear something clean and smart you should be fine. Just make sure you wear something you are comfortable in though, as this will inevitably bolster your confidence!
The very best of luck to you!Halifax Personal Loan £23,000 :think:0 -
Thanks!
It isn't a store where I could go and spy!!
The job is working doing house visits on appointment with clients whom have requested the visit - I couldn't be doing with any of this cold-calling mullarky!
Have taken your advice on board, thanks!0 -
The reason I mentioned the boots is because from October to April I wear boots all the time!
I can, of course, ditch them for the interview!0
