So Confused???

Hi All,

After finally sorting my credit files out, I did the barclaycard pre check and it churned up the starter credit card @ 29.9% and can't understand why . Would this be because I have "arrangement to pay" entries on my equifax file (over 3 years old). Everything else is bob on.

My experian file looks great and as I have an income of 30K+ and TOTAL outstanding debts of £2700, and a credit use ratio of 50%.
On ER of 9 yrs. No CCJ's etc.
I only did the barclaycard check to see how lenders view me and am bitterly dissapointed.

I am actually looking for a loan of 5K to 7K (sums pending) for house renovation. If my equifax file is giving me the problem then I suppose I will have to search for a loan company that only use experian.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks!

arrangement to pay means you didn't pay your debts properly
are they now marked as settled?

have you had any credit since then?

    Hi Clapton,

    Thanks for your reply

The credit file shows as follows:

Feb 2007 to Dec 2007 All Green
    Jan 2008 COLOR=orange]2[/COLOR
    Feb 2008 COLOR=red]AP[/COLOR
Jan 2008 to Present shows All Green (active acount)

The arrangement to pay is only flagged on one months entry. The puzzling thing is that I would not expect this to have any effect on my credit file as it is over 3 years ago, only for one month and have been up to date since.

It's just this one entry that seems to be c*cking me up. A bit unfair by my reconing as it's hardly a default, more of a slight bumb.

The only other credit I have had since is a catalogue which I never use and a mobile account - all up to date.

The only consolation I have is that experian only go back 12 months payments and every account is showing 0 over the last 36 months.

It's completely doing my head in.

I have a 10k loan which is showing £40 balance (settled on 3/2/11) - just waiting for this to show as settled on my file before applying for another loan. I'm just doing my homework, making sure I know exactly where I stand as to whom I apply to.

    Any further suggestions???

If you earn 30k a year then ask your bank who will know your history,if they say no then your renovation might have to start with just some sand paper.

It's a bit late for sand paper - two garden retaining walls built, new patio laid - need 30 tons of top soil, lots and lots of turf and a new gagrage (brick)! I would have stuck with sand paper but I'm a sucker for giant leggo! But thanks for the suggestion!

On a serious note, I have thought about approaching my bank (Natwest) but am really conserned about my equifax file and don't want to have any fruitless searches on my account. If I can find a loan company that only searches experian I'm quids in.

Obviously the arrangement to pay is causing me a problem but how serious of a footprint is it? I was under the assumption that it wouldn't be a major factor when over 12 months old.

That said ~ assumption is the mother of all c*ck ups!
