Since when has this website been used to pounce on people at every oppotunity in such an unreasonably manner!!!! how about you get a life and go give someone else your unneccessary comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

How about you stop blaming NR and give up on this lame "mis sold" argument?
  • You all seem to be a bit harsh on erica given none of you know her circumstances. Northern Rock like all regulated lending institutions will listen to your concerns should you choose to air them.

I have made the assumption that you are struggling with the payments on the loan which is why you are looking at the mis selling angle. You may or may not have been mis sold anything.

If you are struggling you should talk to NR. I know someone who has done this and they were very helpful

That is the bit that is unpopular. Just because you are struggling now does not mean you were mis-sold.

  • I am tickled by the IFA's on this site who presume that all protocols regarding the mortgage process have always been adhered to, and every client has always received all paperwork regarding their mortgage, and there could be no way a mortgage could ever be mis sold.
They obviously have very high standards and would never tell a client anything that would possibly influence them into taking a mortgage that would not be right for their circumstances.
Unfortunately this has not always been the case with the 20,000+ mortgage brokers that are no longer in business.
And to just say to tell someone they should have studied their paperwork or taken legal advice seems like a kop out for the obvious mis selling of lots of mortgages. If this did not happen how are we in the mess that we are as a financial industry.
I am sure I am going to be attacked for these comments as seems the norm here. I am speaking as an ex mortgage broker who no longer works in the indusrty because of the actions of others who completely abused the system and their clients.

I am tickled by some individuals who presume that the requirements have not been adhered to most of the time. The fact is that the majority of cases will have been done correctly. A minority will not have been. Even in cases where there have been rule breaches, it does not suddenly mean you get compensation or your mortgage written off.

You will find that most here will help out where the is any clear wrong doing. However, where it is opportunistic try-it-ons, they will be negative.

    Most IFAs don't do mortgages.

If the risk warnings are given and you ignore them then that is not the fault of anyone else.

Ahh, so you perhaps have a biased view because of your circumstances. You really ought to know better and know what the real situation is. If you don't then perhaps that is why you are not in the industry any more.
