You also have to question: - How can someone on £14k afford the repayments on a £200k property / mortgage?
£14k is £1,160 p/m (after tax but probably get WTC to wipe this out).
Interest rate was 5% in 2006 I believe so even on an I/O mortgage at this level (unlikely if 5 year fix) they'd be paying £10k a year i.e. £833 p/m - excluding service charges, utilities, food, travel etc.
Basically, that post is a load of garbage.0 -

Indeed, hence why you'd have to question it:wall:

Let me guess what he's said...
1. More shared-ownership
2. Get banks lending again
3. BTL is a necessity
4. Keep prices stable...at current levels of course.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Close enough....
-Shapps clearly not interested in a crash,
-likes shared ownership as a solution,
-wants stability and prices to rise slowly,
-hpc crowd embarrassed themselves and got their frothy comments deleted“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Let's take what he actually said, instead of someones VI version. That's a false choice. What I've said is that if pricing are stable and don't regular exceed, say, average earnings then this in itself would be helpful over the long term
Does not say he wants prices to rise. He says, as long as they don't regularly exceed average earnings then this would be helpful over the long term.0 -
the most interesting thing is how they found a picture that made him look so young & good-looking when in fact neither's particularly true.FACT.0

Actually a lot less shared ownership as there is no money for it if you see his reply to me above.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

He seemed to confirm that the UK needed to build more properties.
I think that's been mentioned once or twice in here.
Yes. Mentioned a lot around 2007 too, as I recall.
How did that work out then?0 -

Some great comments, the hpc crowd really took a pasting. One managed to be so offensive to Shapps the comment was deleted. Brilliant, shows them up for what they are.
Ah. Is that whats kept you away from addressing this continuation of our discussion then.
