i always thought it was called hunteres chicken, but someone posted upthe recipe for hunters & it includes tomatoes that def dont feature in this. Hunters chicken online is some sort of beefeaters bbq sauce & cheese- which definately isnt it

Pink if I stick the chicken and the red wine ( only a glassful left) and the bacon & veg in the SC- will it work or does it need more "sauce"

For true coq au vin you need quite a bit of wine, but what you have sounds fine. I would add a little stock and then thicken the sauce up with cornflour before you serve it.

Edit: I googled Hunters Chicken, and there are quite a few recipes for it.

It's definitely coq au vin, and it will be delicious.

I'm very impressed by the concept of managing to have left-over wine!

Perhaps you are thinking of Chicken Chasseur

    ("Chasseur" translates to "hunter")
