Asking Dad to lend me money?
Comments

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the tips and words of wisdom!
I asked him last night, it wasn't easy, felt very embarrassed/ashamed, but as Chr15 said i did get some very sharp words but he was happy to help me out.. to be honest he was more angry at the bank for their charges etc.
It feels like a big relief now and a good lesson learnt... i am determined to change my ways with money!
Thanks, Em xxx0 -
And make sure you pay it back - perhaps at £50 a month is more realistic - ro you'll be short again!Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0

Glad you had the courage to speak to your dad, accept the lectures, but also work with him and look at your spending.
Now your dad is involved and if he is lending you money he is most likly going to question your purchases, it's not him being mean, he's just being a dad.
well done, get an soa on the go and look at your spending now before any real trouble is caused, you may be able to save money too. :T0 -
Better that you spoke to him now than when you got seriously in debt so he may not have been able to help.
Speaking as a dad and having made those mistakes i would be more than happy to provide help to avoid my daughter making the same mistakes.Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.0 -
As a dad who has a daughter that likes to ask dad if she can 'Borrow' some money, I'm glad you asked and that he's able to help.
I did in the end though have to explain to my lovely daughter what 'Borrow' means and that if she wasn't going to pay me back, i'd prefer if she asked if i'd just give her some money......
Strangely, the requests are less frequent and I do get payed back now lol
Dad's will always be dad's and i'd help my kids even if I went without, but they and you need to get used to managing your money/life before it gets really bad (and I did get into really bad debt once, never again)Opinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others
