Fee free mortgage brokers

Hi, can anyone recommend a fee free whole of market mortgage advisor service. I'm currently speaking to L&C but the broker is virtually uncontactable- I called up originally 2 weeks ago and have made no progress. Or is this to be expected for a fee free service?

Try a local service and not an internet one.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Are you looking for telephone based or face to face?

I'm based in North London/Herts borders, but have not been able to find anyone local.
There are around 30,000 IFAs (most of whom will have access to at least one mortgage broker). I very much doubt you cannot find an IFA in your area.

And on that topic, is there much to distinguish one independent adviser from the next, or should you get a comparable service from any one of them? In other words, should I be concerned about going through yellow pages and just going with whoever is the closest one to me?0

We all should work to certain standards, however like every trade/profession some people will cut corners or do more than necessary to give a good service, we are all human, with personalities, some of which you will like some you won't, so phone a few, see who sounds professional/knowledgeable, and who you feel you can work with, it's not just a case of picking a deal and that's it, you will have a couple/several meetings, numerous phone calls/emails, you need to trust them to get back to you when you want.
Try and get a referral, at least that should be a good start.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi GMS, they have just been really hard to contact! Over the last 2 weeks the progress has been:
I sent the advisor a copy of my equifax credit report
The advisor wanted experian
I sent a copy of statutory experian report
The advisor wanted more detail
I sent screen shots of my online report- that still wasnt enough info!
So most recently I sent her a PDF file of the internet report.
The problem is that each time I send the info, it takes about 2 days for her to get back to me, and only ever requests more info, never answering the questions I ask. Phone is also never answered and my voicemails not answered0
