We get bird mites every year (since moving into this house in 2007) and last year I got 40 bites in one night - usually an average of about 5-10 per night. DH doesn't get bitten. However, they usually only cause a problem for me between beginning August and mid September, the colder nights seem to kill them off. I haven't had a bite for 10 days or so. Also, this year I got the gutters cleaned when I got the first bites and it really reduced the average number of bites. Next year I'll get them done in mid July and that might help even more.
Ditto - although I am not sure whether mine are bird mites, I know they are some kind of blood sucking insect. They tend to come in during the night and then bite me, but for some reason DH gets ignored. I have put it down to being a certain blood type that they prefer/go after. I kept thinking it was me, then last month I came to conclusion they are coming in through the open bedroom window having a feed off me and then clearing off again. It stopped three weeks ago! I was fed up of constantly getting 'dined out on' quite honestly! Even the residents bats around our way didn't clear them!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
