Selling Jewellery

Sorry if this isnt the right thread, hope you can help...
Am buying a house and desperately trying to find some extra money from somewhere - I dont have enough scrap jewellery to sell as gold or anything like that, the only items I have are an old engagement ring and a wedding ring. The main reason I want to get rid of these is more emotional than financial but if I could get something for it it would at least help me out on the savings front.
My engagement ring was bought about 8 years ago for about £300 - £400 approx. The wedding ring was approx £90 3 years later. Both 9ct gold set with diamonds.
Do you think I would get the best price of Ebay or would a jeweller/pawnbroker be the best bet. Looking at MSE's reccommendation of gold prices, it only looks like I would get about £10 for the rings - is this right, surely I could make a bit more from it?

If you have any jewellers nearby who buy jewellery, why not take the rings in and ask them how much they'll give you. Also check out completed listings on eBay to see how much similar items have sold for.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
