Aquila Plumbing + Heating Ltd are offering a free home/office energy assessment with absolutely no strings attached. I was really happy with what they had to say, and for free!

The semi-detached house I’m in was built in 1930’s so I always thought that I’d be losing out big time on energy savings so when I saw a leaflet through my door, I gave them a call.

When they came to my house they made a number of great suggestions to help me reduce my bills. They advised cavity insulation and increased loft insulation (which I can get almost free due to grants available), the use of low energy light bulbs which they advised me of the best place to purchase, replacement of my old boiler with a new modern high efficiency boiler with weather compensation could save me up to 40% on my gas bill which I will be doing in the near future, but the best, although a little costly was the installation of solar panels. (or to use the correct term Solar PV?)

When carrying out my survey they identified that my garage had a south facing roof with the perfect pitch to convert solar energy into electricity. What this means is that I could save between 50-75% of my electric bill plus I will receive a tax free income from my energy supplier guaranteed for the next 25 years. What is also great is that I have added value to my house and if I move I can take the tax free payments with me.

Aquila were extremely professional and did not pressure sell, they simply stated the facts and left it with me. On the leaflet, they also have another offer on till the end of June 2011 where you get a fee PV design and registration service worth over £350 but I didn’t feel this warranted a second post.

Anyway, if these guys can save you some cash, go for it. I’m happy with what they suggested. :)

Just google aquila plumbing and you'll find em.

James

Hi James, did they give you a quote for Solar PV along with number of panels and kWp output?
    Competition Wins:
2011: 4 British Airways Flights to Sydney, Australia.
    2014: Turtle Lego Set.
  • This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free.
  • This morning we got a call from a company claiming to be “Home Insulation Grant Research Centre" - a government body. After asking a few basic questions about our current level of insulation they said that we qualified in theory for a government grant under a new scheme initiative. They said that a contractor, namely EAGA Insulations, would call us and arrange to carry out a free survey on their behalf.

Is this too good to be true?
