Why are you worrying about something that isnt going to happen?
They are not doing this and will not do this.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. It gets worse and worse. What on EARTH makes the OP think the government is going to 'halve her pension.'
Seriously, where do people get their information from?0 -

I think you have some mischievous individuals working for the NHS who just love to cause trouble and create false rumour. Many of the rubbish myths that have been posted to this board in recent months have come from those that work in the NHS.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It is not helped by some on here constantly sniping at public service pensions and comments on the affordability for the country going forward.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

This was pinched from the other thread, a post by James, looks like she will be a bit late they have already removed 25% :eek:And Lord Hutton's detailed Interim Report from last October here:
http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/d/hutt...rim_071010.pdf
Ex.11 This change in the indexation measure may have reduced the value of benefits to scheme members by around 15 per cent on average. When this change is combined with other reforms to date across the major schemes the value to current members of reformed schemes with CPI indexation is, on average, around 25 per cent less than the pre-reform schemes with RPI indexation.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. It's not only the NHS that seems to have the strange rumours.
I had my son on the phone to me yesterday asking if he should take out life assurance via his work benefits for his wife as she has just been told by someone in the LGPS that she would no longer get the death in service benefit as the council have removed it!
That on top of my teaching colleague who says she wants to retire now before they remove the tax-free lump sum because Hutton says that is what's going to happen.0 -
The problem stems from at least some members of the con side of the coalition being so virulently anti public sector that it's easy to believe virtually anything about what they would like to do, regardless of the likelihood of them actually doing it.0

Steve Webb decided CPI was more suitable than RPI going forwards against the advice of the Royal Statistical Society, or any other meaningful consultation, and forced this through Parliament in mid-February. He is not Conservative though, he is Liberal Democrat.

I think you will find that most of those LibDem ministers will be officially Tory by the time of the next election
