......big satnav crash, say experts.
Britain is already so "dangerously dependent" on the GPS satellite navigation system that its failure could cause loss of life, a report warned yesterday.

Its why you should always have a map...0

I've never seen/used a sat nav myself. Wouldn't know how.
If I'm going anywhere, I look at a map, memorise the route, then drive it.0 -
AA route planner for me, although even that took me through the Crem once had me joining a funeral entourage.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

This is why we need Galileo. Its a shame the French want to use it to point their misslies at Berlin though.

OH has a Ford with a heated front screen, I think it has a metal grid running through it and if you forget to get the satnav locked onto the signal outside the car - you would be at your destination before it locked on and started working.
I prefer a map if I'm a passenger - it gives me something to do and stops me thinking about OH's driving! And if I'm driving and I have a fair idea of where I'm headed I have to turn the sound off as it drives me insane telling me to turn around at my earliest opportunity. It also drives me mad when it tells you to take the next left/right and there isn't one as it's a bend in the road.
And sometimes I still use mapquest to get a route.
Have we suddenly lost the ability to read maps - I still carry a big atlas in the car - you just never know.0 -
Car sat nav systems are not really the main issue. We have all sorts that uses GPS nowadays, to find the time for example.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -
I think there is more of a chance of a terrorist nuclear attack on a major world City then us being !!!!!!ed by the GPS signals being compromised. So chill and don't worry about it.............0

Everything has it's opposite. The other side of this worthless coin is that the gov't are worried that they won't be able to zoom, zoom and double zoom into your lodgings anymore. Worried and annoyed as they spent gazzilions on it and and now they're v peeved since they're spending another shed load on another spy device in the anticipation of collecting all the insignificant data about your household abode via the census form; except now they won't be able to match the two together.
oh how we laughed!more dollar$ than sense0 -
