Paying for a Majorcan hotel upgrade

Hi Folks

Maybe the wrong place to post this so apologise if it is.

I have a holiday booked with Thomson in June, but after aquiring a quote from them for an additional adult I decided to contact the hotel direct, as Thomson were charging the earth, to obtain a price for this upgrade. They are charging a fair price, but require my credit card details to pay the deposit which is 1 nights accommodation of around 26 euros and the balance will be payable upon arrival. Bit nervous about giving out my details, but so long as I am given a receipt and email confirmation do you consider this ok??? What if I use my debit card, am I covered for attempts or acts of fraud with that??

Comments

  • as long receipt is issued and email confirmation to confirm retailer has taken this payment then ok
debit card you are covered normally (just raise dispute with bank) under visa regulations (chargeback)
dont use credit card (obv. why :P)
