Anyone got any tips?

Hi,

We're about to send out our invites and I wanted to pop in there a wee bit of paper with info on including a map. I want to suggest a couple of places to stay. When I've received these things before they often have a special room rate of say £40 if you mention Mr X's and Miss X's wedding.

I'm thinking of ringing up a couple of hotels and see if they can do it. Should I do just one or more?

Any tips would be much appreciated!

do as many as you can in the surrounding area asking if they will discount for your wedding party then go with the cheapest room rate

I've done two hotels - a cheaper Days Inn & a more fancy Best Western.
The Days Inn were a lot more helpful though.

THat's kind of what I'm thinking of doing. One slightly posher hotel (which some of my family have booked into already) and one more basic one.

The only thing is they're in 2 separate towns. We're probably putting on a bus as taxis don't really come out to where I live (well, for less than £40 which I think is unfair to ask guests to pay) and it would mean 2 buses I think!

Yeah, our two will need sepparate busses too, but we wanted to give people the option to choose the price of their digs.

Hi When we had a wedding invite just before Christmas they'd put in a map and list of 3 hotels in the area. It was a great help for booking accomodation, though you had to get in quick as one hotel is already full (its a remote area)! Your guests will really appreciate it.

Also, she provided the local taxi number for the venue for people as well as these have to be booked in advance.
