Reducing Egg balance

I have had a credit card account with egg for a number of years which I have been paying only the minimum payment for about 24 months at least. I am now in a better position and have started to pay off bigger payments.

I have some adverse credit on my file generally incurred over a six to nine month period about two years ago.

The problem is now egg have started to reduce my credit limit inline with the reducing balance. I was hoping to maintain the credit line to improve my credit rating over time.

Is there anything I could do?

  • I would leave it six months and apply for a new credit card, once you have a period of regualr payements on your card you should be ok?or maybe it is a year? Mind you in the current situation the requirments most likely have changed? Also applying for (and NOT USING) a fairly rubbish card like er capital one or Vanquis? Am I allowed to say that? might help to improve your rating.

to be honest I doubt Egg would close the card? They will probably get to a certain point and stop lowering your credit.
