American websites

Hi;
my cousin in US has had a baby and we want to send a present from a US site. But having problems because many only seem to recognise US billing addresses - e.g. Gap, lord & taylor. want to ship to US but bill to UK & use UK credit card.
do you know any dept stores whose sites are international in this way?

  • My friend had this trouble buying over here from the US for the same reason. Do you have another friend who can do it for you and you send money to them (Paypal for instance). Also, try and find a store that accepts Paypal and you should be fine. Look for them on https://www.paypal.com

    Failing this, try eBay.com and ask them to ship if they will gift wrap and ship your friend in the US and not to include any billing info. most sellers are great but always ask first, I do this and my friend does this for gifts for my children in the UK. Remember, there are lots of businesses on eBay as well so it is not all 2nd hand stuff.

    I hope this helps.

    I've done this before using Bloomingdales but you have to phone up to place the order.

    Thinking about it, I've also ordered from Gap.com by telephone using a UK credit card but with delivery to a US friend's house so it's definitely worth giving these companies a call.

    Hope that helps.
  • I'm pretty sure Amazon.com will let you ship to US but bill to UK address
    Why do companies offer you "free gifts?"
    Since when has a gift NOT been free?
  • you could also try asking your card issuer to add your friends address in the us to your account so the transaction will go through.
  • Thank you... Problem is, it's a gift so I don't want to bill the receiver! I'm still looking.. Tried amazn but no nice gift sets - gap so good for this kinda thing!
  • Target works and they have lots of lovely things for a baby. I just ordered a few things from there and they arrived at my parents (in the US) and you can use your Amazon account which is linked to Target. It even took my UK debit card.
