They keep records of all the numbers you have used. Its not that easy I'm afraid.

As much as that made me laugh, I don't really think that's a wise idea as it would go against you in a magistrates eyes (delibrately trying to avoid communicating), best to get a pre-pay and just leave it switched off :)

I would be like to say you are right. But MBNA are not quite like that. I have debt with them and did have them try to phone me at least 20X a day, plus text messages etc. What they have not done once is try and contact me via letter, not a bean. I did try the please just contact me in writing but it fell on deaf ears. I do pay them in my DMP anyway like others on here they just phone to bully you into paying more.

As for the changing your number. It does work if you constantly change your details, I think they only have room for so many old numbers on there system, eventually your correct number falls of the end of the system i presume. Mine today was changed for GVI's 0800 number to radio 1 flirt divert number.:rotfl:

    You're so naugty!

I got two letters today offering the opportunity to write off some of my debt with them and stating they didn't make the offer's to everybody - funny how I got two letters in the same day for different accounts.

In small writing at the bottom of the letter it had, "please call now on XXX and have your debit card to hand as we require £XXX.xx payment and once received we may freeze charges and interest".

hmmm, don't think I'll be calling them somehow, do they think I'm stupid enough to fall for the "may freeze charges" bit
A very craftly worded letter asking for more money, and making empty threats.

I'd rather like them to take me to COurt actually, at least then they'd be stopped from adding £120 in charges to the account each month!

Eventually they'll get the message and put you on the hardship file. You get a personal advisor and they knock the interest down to 0%.

You can then offer them a full and final which should be pitched so that you only pay off what you owe at the moment minus the payments you made up to that point. When you make the offer you can point this fact out to them...

MBNA sold both my accounts to 1st Credit, after multiple daily calls telling me it was my own problem for running up debt on their cards, and if I didn't increase my monthly repayment and pay off my arrears they would take legal proceedings. I stood firm and now 1st Credit are on the case with the continual calls, and initially texts. Best thing I did was to call them up from a payphone and tell them I had no ability to receive calls and all communication would have to be in writing. They questioned me and I told them again it was pointless and they would need to communicate in writing. They have now got the message and sent me a letter telling me they are starting legal proceedings for a CCJ enforced by a charging order, and will push for an order to sell my property!
