Does anyone know if I can get the census in Welsh whilst living in England? The helpline is jammed.

    From the website:-

Can I complete the English questionnaire in Welsh?

If you are living or staying in England on census night, Sunday 27 March, you should complete the questionnaire in English.
If you are living or staying in Wales, you can complete either your English questionnaire in English or your Welsh questionnaire in Welsh.

In Wales, the Welsh Language Act 1993 requires all public sector organisations to treat Welsh and English equally. People living in Wales can therefore choose to complete their questionnaire in Welsh or English.

You can do it online, there might be a Welsh option on that (?)

You need to complete the household return for your home for that night.

The place where you are staying will include you on their return also.

There does appear to be an option to complete the return in Welsh online but I'm not sure whether, if you l ive in England, it will default to English when you put your ID in.

there is more to this than i thought and although wrong in the eyes of many i am going to say i am in my home on census night. This is my home and the area i call my home family included and in another 100 years time when my great great grandkids are looking for their great great grandaddy greeny i dont think they will start their search in sheep field "A" llanflangogogoch (although its a nice sheep field i would like to be known at home and not my girlfriends Barrrbarrra.)

You still show your details as 'usually living at' your own home, it's just that your girlfriend would also list a visitor that night.

Anyone searching the records later would still find your details recorded at your home.
