free ps2 for your broken ps2

not sure where to post this or if it has been done before,

if you have a ps2 that doesnt work if you give sony helpline a ring and tell them it doesnt work and all you get is the message disc read error they will send you another ps2 in return for your broken one depending on the model number but if it is an extremely old one(when they first came out) they will sell you one for £50, i have done this twice once i got one free and once i had to pay but it was still cheaper than purchasing one from the shops, they dont check your ps2 you just have to swap it and they deliver really fast say a cpl of days max,
this has something to do with sony getting took to court as alot of there playstations got this fault after a short time.

you dont have to post your ps2 off they will collect it when they bring you the replacement

I did this a few months ago. Courier came to my work, left me with a recon. and took my knackered one away.....easy

Two things to bear in mind:

1 - The replacement is a recon.
2 - It's only guaranteed for three months

They would probably replace with the same type they had taken away.

My PS2 is 'chipped' and has developed the 'disc read error' problem. Do you reckon it's worth trying to get it replaced?
