Arrow Global and Wescot Credit

Hi My first post here so I hope you can help with some advice. I had debt issues 4 years ago, and while I had cleared most of it there are still some outstanding. One of which I had believed to be nearly 6 years old and therefore could not be persued, though is still on my account. I make no apologies for saying that I will not pay for a debt that is due to expire. I do not dodge debt anymore and I'm up to date and living healthy and well, and its been a hell of a road to get here.
I received two letters this morning both from the same address and postmark, however one is reportedly from RBS and one from Arrow Global. The RBS letter claims to pass all my details and outstanding debt to Arrow Global, and is signed by a Collections Manager. The second letter is from Arrow Global saying they have taken over the debt and have passed it to their collection agents Wescot Credit. This letter is signed BY THE SAME PERSON AS RBS?? Both these letters were sent from same address, both signed with exactly the same signature, and yet one is from RBS and the other from Arrow Global?? How is that possible?
I've heard nothing good on here about Wescot and Arrow so I am not at all looking forward to this.
Any advice welcome and thanks

How is that possible?
It's not. Looks like Arrow have faked a "notice of assignment" letter on some RBS headed paper.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

So thats a good start then, a company sending fake letters from RBS?!0

Well, I can't see any other logical conclusion? So, yes.
OK. So you say this debt should have expired? I presume that you mean statute barred?
If so, then can we check when you would have either last made a payment towards the debt or acknowledged it in writing?
Assuming that was over 6 years (5 in Scotland), or there was a previous 6 year period where you can say that, then the debt would be statute barred.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi thanks for the response. How would I go about checking the last payment made? My concern is that if I ask any information about this then Wescot will jump on it and start harrassing me for money. I know that the best way out of these situations is to make contact and start repaying what you can afford, but if I am close to a statute barred debt then should I check this first?
I am in Scotland so would that be 5 years? I certainly haven't acknowledged or paid anything back since 2006/07. Wow that makes me look very bad indeed.0 -
5 years in Scotland, yes.
Have a read through this factsheet: http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/scotland/factsheet.php?page=23_prescription_and_limitation_act
You should certainly think very carefully about how long it is since you last acknowledged or made a payment on the debt.
If you don't have records yourself, then there isn't any easy foolproof way to check.
You could check your credit reference files, but the dates on those are not always accurate or relate very well to the dates you would want to know. Plus checking your files would most likely flag up an alert to anyone chasing.
To be honest, at the moment if you are unsure, then there is probably not any reason to do a thing. The longer it goes, the more likely it is that 5 years has gone by. These companies will threaten a lot. Imminent legal action and all sorts. But they only very rarely go through with the threats.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
