Student Loans Statued Barred

  • I don't have an issue with paying it back! They demanded the money in full and threatened court action and we simply don't have it, the loan started at 3k and it has suddenly jumped to 6k. He has never earned enough money to be above the deferment threshold thoughtout the time we lived abroad (so I am annoyed that he didn't keep up the deferment).

I sent the letter on the advice of one of these debt lines. I am happy to offer to pay of monthly if they will except a reasonable sum?????????

you dont have an issue paying it,so sent a letter stating it was statute barred?
    sure
perhaps sending a letter with a payment proposal would have supported that version of the story

Demanding it back in full is included in the contract you sign though, and only occurs if you fail to notify them of a change of address.

Either way, you'll need to make payments to them. SLC are chasing things a lot more than in previous years now, so unless you're certain it's not worth the trouble.
