This is a no cheat, 100% legal way to increase your donations to Comic Relief at the cost of the phone companies. This is because these days the telephone operators/retailers make people buy credit when they buy a phone AND because Comic Relief do not have to pay for text donations. There are two Options:
Option 1:
1) Buy a Sim Card with credit on ebay (typically £4-£7)
2) Donate via Text (details below)
3) Sign up to gift aid using the phone number and there website
https://www.rednoseday.com/donate/gift_aid_declaration/text
If you buy a Sim Card with £10 credit this will give you.....
Example
So a £10 purchase (bought for £5) give you £9 free Credit (you lose £1 as you have to pay for text messages UNLESS the sim has free text message allowance) with gift aid = £10.80.
so £5 Purchase = £10.80
Plus nectar points, Ebay feedback and possible Ebay points.
HOW TO
http://www.rednoseday.com/text-donation-terms-conditions
1. You can donate to Comic Relief by texting the word “MOBILE” to 70011. Your support will result in a £1 donation to Comic Relief for each text message that you send. Please note that in addition to the £1 donation, you will incur your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). Please note that you cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands or Isle of Man mobile.
1. You can donate to Comic Relief by texting the word “MOBILE” to 70005. Your support will result in a £5 donation to Comic Relief for each text message that you send. Please note that in addition to the £5 donation, you will incur your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). Please note that you cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands or Isle of Man mobile.
1. You can donate to Comic Relief by texting the word "MOBILE" to 70010. Your support will result in a £10 donation to Comic Relief for each text message that you send. Please note that in addition to the £10 donation, you will incur your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates). Please note that you cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands or Isle of Man mobile.
* "You can send a text message between 00:01 on 28th February and 23.59 on 31st March 2011"
As long as you get the SIM in march you can help, even after the Comic Relief night
* If you do not have a Unlocked phone, make sure you have access to the phone on the corresponding SIM.
* You will lose a £1 of credit for the text messages unless you have free text messages on the credit.
* I phoned Tesco Mobile today who, although on the O2 network, they will still apply charges so £10 donation would not be anything like that.
2. The mobile network operators below have waived their charges in order to allow the full £1 cost of the bounce-back message (described below) to go entirely to support Comic Relief.

Orange
T-Mobile
Virgin
Vodafone
In addition, HM Treasury have confirmed that no VAT should be charged on these donations.
3. You can send a text message between 00:01 on 28th February and 23.59 on 31st March 2011.
Option 2:
QUIDCO / EBAY / DONATE
1) go to QUIDCO http://www.quidco.com/mobiles/pay-as-you-
go/e2save/ or other cashback site +£7.50 Cashback
2) Buy Pay as you go phone *
http://quidco.e2save.com/mobile-phone/payg/nokia/Nokia-1800.html?tariffcode=VIRGN - £7.90 + £10
3) Sell phone on ebay +get about £10
4) Donate £9 as above for a gift aid £10.80
* You should be able to select your PAYG package options, so get a bundle of free messages/calls/international calls/internet/etc. as a bonus - including getting text messages that allows the full £10 donation + £2 Gift Aid
So £17.50 spend would give you approximately £17.90 return plus a free £10.80 donation to Comic Relief.
* terms and conditions apply, only 6 PAYG phones can be bought from the Carphone Warehouse each year so if you should be aware of this.
BOTH OPTIONS ARE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TELEPHONE COMPANIES (WHO IMHO CAN AFFORD IT) YOU CAN HELP THOSE IN NEED - GREAT OPTION, AND WELL WORTH A LITTLE EFFORT.

For a fastest cash back option to go with Option 2
Cex currently give £5 cash for the Nokia 1800 when locked to Vodafone - and the Vodafone option is £0.01 at the moment with £10 top-up.
