is a very thick pan essential for bubble and squeek?

Mine seems to cook to quickly , and gets burned rather than browned , sometimes it sticks as well. I use a medium heat.

I butter a dish then put the mixture in and bake it in the oven, with or without grated cheese on top:) It means I don't have to pay any attention to it - plus I have the frying pan free to do a fried egg to go on top:T
The rare occasions when I've done in it a pan, yes I'd say start it off lowish, you can always turn it up a bit once the top feels warm, to get the bottom crispy.0 -
