Are you still looking for ideas? What about magic reindeer dust?
    Mix porrige oats and glitter.
There is a ditty to put on the bag but sorry I cant remember it! Maybe someone on here will know?

Stormbreaker, there are some on here - scroll down two-thirds of the page. http://www.csdarchives.com/~rstewart/k2001/Themes/reindeer/reindeer.htm

There is another rhyme which I can't remember which is linked to a different recipe with more ingredients but this site has lots of reindeer based activities and information. :)

I got a set of three lovely hatboxes from Asda for £2.81.

Brilliant! Didn't think of Asda... had told OH we're off to Wilko's/Woolworth/£ shop/Savers etc but the shop where we do all of our grocery shopping?

    Slipped my mind completely! :o

And mine, thanks Rusty - hadn't even thought what I was going to put the reindeer food in

Thanks for posting link Shelley, just bought some :D

You should have said Rainmac, I wouldn't have used all of mine so could have sent you the rest :)
Mind you there must be other crafty things we could use it for ;)

OH says that his dad could make me door hangers!!! How impressed am I means I can have as many as I want without the price (not that they are expensive but its more MSE if they cost less ;) )

  • I am going to try and grab a couple of them pretty puppy and kitten boxes today when I go shopping. OH says I can spend £10 on each of his friends girls so I am going to do 2 single boxes then a little cookery bowl set with aprons aswell :) Hopefully I can pick up some other bits and bobs in with the shopping and he won't know ;)

  • Shelly and lickelmiss the hampers are both gorgeous and you have done the cello so well! (ie better than mine)!:rotfl: Anyway off to pay in a refund check and check out more bargains. I've made up 3 cookery sets - if I can get an apron as well that would be the perfect finish. If not, on one of them I may ask you to post one to me.;)

    Hello hamper makers :)

I haven't posted since around about Easter, and have tried to catch up in the last week - but you all make hampers quicker than I can post :D so I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone. This thread is a lovely little retreat for me and as for some of your ideas and tips and tricks? They blow me away :) I'm still working my way backwards, so apologies if I've thanked some posts and not others.

Now the reason for posting lol.

There's a flyer type thing in instore ... / £-stretcher, and I've just noticed that on the front page it says there's a free bear with every £10 you spend. I've checked the flyer thing for dates and it says that the offers are valid from 11th Sept. to 23rd Oct. so it hopefully includes the bear (big one I hope ;))

I know that some of you hamperers (new word? lol) spend a lot in these stores, so they may be worth looking out for. I can't say I saw any whilst shopping there, but my eyes were on baskets.

Apologies if this has been posted before btw.

P.S. mary43 :) I was thinking about you whilst shopping in Wilkinsons (and after admiring all of your cup cakes and 'swiss rolls' on another thread (lost it now :o but very inspirational - thanks), as at the time, there was none left!* I can see why now :D but luckily I think you all must have been having a rest from cup cakes and flannels as I did manage to buy some :)

    Thanks again everyone x

    *Flannels that is :)

I managed to get some more cookery bits at Wilkos including the aprons for 49p so was really chuffed. In Wilkos they were selling a cookery set for £5 - which was an apron, spoon and whisk - unbelieveable. Ruby - if you are worried that your contents for hampers aren't enough see what they are selling hampers like for £10 in Asda - you'll realise how generous our hampers are for the same amount.

My kids are desperate to make some reindeers. I bought some silvery type pipecleaners for the antlers in the end (Rymans £1.99) and I thought if I need bobbles/bells at the top I could use beads saving an e-bay buy!

  • Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that in my asda they do the childrens metal lunchbox tins with the puppy and kitten on them for £1.50 but they are priced at £3.00
I managed to grab 2 for some friends daughters.

Also managed to pick up 3 x packs of 5 window paints (presumably glass paints?) for 20p a pack in wilkos. one to put away for my son and the others to go in these boxes with other bits and bobs :)

Savingholmes you have made me laugh. OH and I have just got back from town. I said to him about that same cookery kit for £5 and was commenting on how much nicer my hampers were for less money than those in asda!!! you have given me a compelte de ja vu!
