Do you not buy specific things from specific shops - or is this just me? I will buy basic shampoo, muesli, toothpaste from any of them but I will only buy my chicken from Aldi because I can get free range for a fiver.

Yes, its exactly what I do too! Veg, Chicken and stew beef from Aldi, Heinz beans and jars of olives etc from Lidl, frozen food/bacon/lamb on a monthly stock up from Adsa. Easier than I thought now I'm used to it. My problem is that I try each week to get a day or too extra fro my weekly shop (leftovers, only half the amount of meat one day and so on) Add to that sometimes I have to work late every night and can't get to the supermarket and these are my danger days!
Can you do this in stages. Put together an ideas board. Plan for when you are going to allow yourself to buy things and do it in stages. So paint now and carpets in 6 months. Do rooms in stages too, maybe as a reward for getting further with your debt journey.

Now this I really love - an ideas board. That would be amazing, and a great way to spend time instead of slumped in front of the TV

    Thanks!!

Thanks everyone, loads of really great ideas. And its wonderful to know that others are doing this too. Maybe next time I think of how strong everyone here is, and try to achieve what some of you have.

Allow myself a strict weekly cash budget but otherwise use the debit card. If I try using cash all the time I end up frittering it on nothings, especially if shopping comes to just over the £'s. Using the card for me stops this.

My weakness is eBay. So I tend to unplug the router.

You could block the site (or get someone else to password protect it for you) so you/others can still use the internet.
