The fees can be hefty and you can have the books sat around for a while. Postage is a set amount so you can make profit/loss on it. The money is paid into your bank account periodically or you can request a bacs payment anytime.
I've done it and found it expensive in terms of fees but a lot simpler than e-bay. There is a board on here that seems to have great tips on there for Amazon newbies - I found it very useful.
It is surprising what sells though

Another thought - do you want the cash for spending/repayments or for buying more books? If you are a book fan it might be worth checking out www.readitswapit.co.uk where you can swap books with other users for the cost of posting your book off. That way you can get new books for next to nothing. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0

HI Angel
I've sold loads of books on AMazon and it's really easy. I would say it's not worth it for popular books where there are loads of people competing on price, but for text books and rare old books you can make good money. You do have to consider postage costs and price accordingly.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I much prefer it to Ebay. Might not get as much but it's far less time consuming!OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

The difference between Ebay and Amazon is that Ebay charge listing fees and Amazon don't. So the fees might be a bit higher on Amazon, but if you have to list the book a couple of times on ebay you'll end up paying more.
I find Amazon a lot better than ebay for these reasons:- no listing fees. Only pay fees on what sells
- items tend to move faster. Dependent on what they are of course, but even popular books shift eventually. And this is where the "no fees until sold" thing comes into play
- easier listing process. No need to photograph or anything, just find your item and list it.
I've sold things on amazon recently for crazy prices, an old coffee plunger (that was accurately described!) for twice what it retails for. Textbooks go very well on amazon, even older editions0 -
I find it loads better than eBay- I usually make a profit even with selling a book for a penny as long as it's a light paperback. There's a lot to be said for being able to sit and list 20 books in about 1/2 hour compared to eBay taking hours to take and upload the photos etc.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

Also I find that my books don't tend to sell as well on ebay. I don't think it's the first place people tend to look for cheap books. I think I'd always try amazon first.0
