Maybe try patching it with a much larger piece of material so that where you are stitching it on isn't near the edge of the hole so the material dosen't fray. If you have a cotton handkerchief you could use that if you haven't ant fabric scraps floating about. If you aren't handy with a needle and thread you could use wundaweb.
    Good luck

Even parcel tape could be used for a quick fix just to stop the stuffing coming out. I would use wonderbond on a larger patch of fabric and then sew as well using the finest needle I could.

You beat me to it I was going to say if you had a duvet cover you didn't use anymore just sew the duvet into it.
I used my old duvet on the spare bed as a matress cover on the mattress then put the fitted sheet over the top for the sheet so when you sleep on the spare bed its very soft and warm My new duvet goes on the top.If I ever find I have an old duvet I usually find a use for it or roll it up and put into a black bag until we can take it to the beach to sit on in the summer holidays.more comfy than a picnic blanket. Duvets are brilliant for finding other uses for them. My youngest DD has two dogs and they usually end up in the dogs baskets
