Frederickson international - Help/advice please.

Hi,
i was wondering if anyone could help tell me where i stand really, i cant seem to find anything on the internet regarding this matter etc.
here goes,
A few weeks ago i had a phone call asking me to confirm my name/address/D.O.B, i told the person on the other end of the phone that i don't hand details like that over to strangers, but if he told me who i thought i was etc, i would confirm if it was me or not. anyway he said he was calling on behalf of Frederickson international ltd, who are working on behalf of Arrow global guernsey ltd, for a debt to a mobile phone contract that was paid off and cancelled back in 2007. apparently there is 92.41 outstanding all them years. now i have recently moved, (march 10) and this is the first i've heard of any debt, as i say it was paid off in 2007 when i cancelled. now as a rule i only hold onto recipets etc for approx a year, so i no longer have proof it was paid, although it was more than likely paid via giro slip at the bank. now i've explained all this to them and they said they would send me all the correspondance from orange etc, and open a dispute and they would look into it for me. fine, or so i thought....

i've still not had any copies of documents etc, and they have sent me 4 letters, begining 7th feb 2011, 3 of which are since i filed a dispute. the last one which i recieved this morning dated 2/3/11, says if the debt isn't paid in full in the next 7 days they are taking immediate action, which means court proceeding, which means my bill will be 157.41, with added fees, such as court costs, & solicitors fees.
so does anyone know where i stand? how do i get them to take my dispute seriously, or am i just going to have to bite the bullet and pay twice?
any help/advice would be greatly recieved,
many thanks,
Dan.

    Hi

When you say you filed a dispute do you mean as part of the phone call? or have you written to them to do this? if its only a verbal dispute then as you say they won't be taking it seriously.

usually if a DCA contacts you out of the blue the first thing to do is to send the prove it letter (recorded). This should then trigger them to send you paperwork etc to prove you owe the money and you can then see what period the debt relates to etc.

You could call orange direct and ask them if a debt was owed
