Cashback Gift Cards

Given the price of fuel and groceries are increasing week on week I thought I would see if there was a way to reduce the bills. I have come across Cashback Gift Cards.co.uk via a work related perks/lifestyle website which lets you load gift cards and gives 5% cashback as the perk for ASDA and Sainsbury.

There is a monthly membership of £1 plus a load fee of 50p but given I spend so much on food and fuel it seems like a fab deal.

I am worried to use it as I can find no reference to it on this website and I would expect others to be talking about this if it's a genuine deal.
Anyone heard of it and/or have experience of using it?

I have a reloadable Sainsbobs card through DH's work scheme (not the one you mention) and it works great for us.
We get 5% off. I put £100 a week which covers all our food, wine, cat food & diesel.
The only pain is remembering to re load it in time for the weekly shop as there is a cut off time for the money to upload ready for the next day.
I wouldnt want to put on a whole months worth on in one go incase I lost the card as you dont enter any PIN at the till.
The £20 I save each month goes to our mortgage over payment pot !

Edited to add that I dont pay any membership or re-load fee

Yes, same here, that works out at approx 7p off per litre in Sainsbury's and ASDA. Only get 2% off at Morrisons though.
ASDA and Morrisons give you cashback, so your % off increases.

We have a works scheme too, which I have never used. It appears that there is a Sainsburys scheme which appears to be the same as Tabatha Kitten mentions. I spend about £40 a week at Sainsburys but would still save a bit by doing this, so it looks like a good idea. Does anyone know if I use a Sainsburys top up card can I still claim nectar points as well?

Just re-read what I said here, but doesn't make sense.

Basically what I meant to say is, if you get for example a £25 paper voucher from ASDA at 5% off (£1.25 off face value), and you buy £12.50 worth of stuff/fuel, it works out at 10% off as they give you change.

Also, both the schemes I am in, do not charge any fees if using a debit card, but your fees are quite low anyway.

The way our scheme works is I preload £100 on the card, pay by debit card (there is a charge for credit cards) and they debit my account with £95.
I do my shopping, give the cashier my Nectar card for the points to be added and swipe the gift card. The cashier gives me a receipt as usual with the nectar balance and also a receipt showing the balance of the gift card.
  • I have been using this for over a year now and have found it good.It does take several days sometimes for cards to load. But for some you can check the balance online and the staff when you phone are helpful.

Sorry to bring this old thread up, by I have also discovered CashbackGiftCards.co.uk through a work related perks site. It sounds like a good deal, I am just wondering why there is not more talk of it on here?

Are you guys still using this or a similar service? Are your thoughts still positive? Also are there any alternatives to CashbackGiftCards.co.uk which you would suggest are better?
