Wedding Car

Im assuming that you are setting up a business and that you have investigated theset up/ running and insurance costsfor your car and that is what has led you to determining the proposed price.
The price seems fair assuming that you provide some nice touches in your packages and appreciate that its not just a few hours work that you will have on a saturday...but that you actually carry out a rolling maintainance program on your car to keep it in its best condition the rest of the time too...
There is a part of me that thinks that you may be asking the price question to the wrong people here in as much as most of the brides here are probably looking at something a little cheaper and better value for money than £450 ...and I would love to suggest that if you were to offer the price at half what you propose then demand would probably be higher...but I appreciate that to lower your prices to that level it may not be cost effective for you.
Lots of couples opt to get married today at an all in type venue and there is little need for the grand transport to the church/venue so you may find that when you actually look into your proposition that once insurance is factored in its not actually a viable small business option for you.
Good luck with youe venture if you choose to proceed
Its not a business venture as such, more a means to generate money to help pay for the car's upkeep. And it is there to be driven - cars don;t belong in museums imo. Insurance is £250 - so not a big expensive and that covers me for wedding usage.Mortgage Free Wannabe

Another way of getting hold of a car for your wedding is to use http://www.zipcar.co.uk, where you can hire private cars out by the hour/day/week. To qualify cars must be no older then 5 years. Please check out www.cheap-wedding.net for more money saving ideas on wedding car hire.0

We're paying £450 for a vintage car, for this my dad and I are being taken to the hotel then after the ceremony OH and I are being taken for a wee hurl in it. I think we wont have any time limitations on the day, as the company only uses each car once a day, something to do with the insurance.
Personally, I would not have paid for this and would have hired an executive taxi instead, but OH insisted on a vintage car and the person who owns the company is my OH's friend's dad. Not that we got mates rates though

We're paying £490 for a 1935 Rolls Royce, Silver shadow and Merc 7 seater.
Originally we were quoted £440 for the vintage and one of the other cars or £350 for the shadow and merc which is what we originally went for. However, we ended up with more bridesmaids than I wanted so needed an extra car and were offered the vintage for an extra £140 as they "like to keep costs under £500", I was a little over the moon as I was expecting to pay around £250 for the vintage.0 -
I don't think it would work.
Why would someone who needed the car to do one 20 minute trip, be charged the same as someone who wanted 2 90 minutes trips with 2 hours in between those times?
Not very fair is it?
Just to play Devil's Advocate on this one, look at it from the point of view of the person whos business it is - as weddings are generally at the same time of day, often on the same days of the week (weekends), they can only commit to doing one a day.
So if they want to make money, they need to work from a flat, daily base rate.
For argument's sake you say you'll charge a pound a minute and someone asks for a single 20 minute journey, and that's all you can do all day, you'd be right to turn them down and hold out for the people that want to hire for a whole day, wouldn't you?
You're right though, it's not fair ... we only want cars for 20 minutes and we're forking out a base rate!

That's not true at all I'm afraid.
Where we got our car, I think we paid £250 and that was to pick me, my Dad and the kids up and take us to the reg office, wait while we got married, wait 20 minutes for pictures, then take myself and my husband 15 minutes up the road to a hotel where we were having the rest of the day. So not a lot of miles or time needed at all.
If we wanted the car to travel further than X, it would cost more.
If you wanted the car to wait around while you have pictures taken, it would cost more.
If we wanted the car to take us somewhere other than the reg office/church and venue, it would cost more.
More miles and more time for the driver, meant more money.
Some people want a car going one way. Some people want a car going 2 ways. Some people want a car going 3 or 4 ways.
Some people's venues are 5 mins from the church or reg office.
Some people's venues are 100 miles from the church or reg office.
Do you think everyone really pays the same rates?
I rang around many car places and there was no one set bog standard fee for any of them.
I got married at 11.30am too, so they had plenty of time to turn the car around (not literally lol) and do another wedding in the afternoon.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

I think everyone pays the same *minimum* rate in most instances and this is increased for more time or miles.
Very few professional wedding cars would arrange more than one wedding on the same day. If the wedding overran, saying "I have to go now, I've another wedding" would be professional suicide.0
