Bank Charges

Morning
Can anyone tell me if banks are allowed to take out bank charges on the day you have benefits paid in. Reason being is that I got quite a few charges going out and apparantely someone did state on this site that it's against the bank policy to do this. Basically this money is to live on.. Any replies would be great. Don't know where to go from here and worrying myself sick as we won't have any money.
