 hi!
Can I ask, how do you work out the monthy & daily interest rates?
Thank you.
Haha! Auto correct put interest as intestines!!
Hi Moomi,
I use one of the spreadsheets that was linked to on this website, Locoblade I think (will dig out the link).
It automatically calculates the monthly interest and I added a column which divided the montly cell values by 30 to give me an approximate figure for daily intererst.early retirement wannabe0 -
Is the drainage blocked? Pull the fridge out and see where it drains to, put cloths down. Get some bendy wire and make a long twisty thing*. Shove it in a bit, twist it about and pull out. Wipe yucky orangey red stuff off (well that's what mine was, I assume it was some antibiotic life form
), repeat, pouring down hot water as well. Eventually long twisty thing* will go all the way down. Clean through with anti-bacterial liquid and it will be fine. Well, mine has been for a year. To use a technical term, the drain was boggin'.

Lol, thanks, it definatley gets 'gunky'! there is a hole at the back inside fridge, a piece of plastic broke off a while back, I think it's beyond repair unfortunately.
Just found a taller fridge freezer combo on gumtree for £30 which we might get in meantime from someone up the road.
Tried replacing a hose on the washing machine with no luck, looks I need plumber out tomorrow. Annoyingly it might mean pulling off some of the new tiles that we recently had done to access the cold water valveearly retirement wannabe0 -
Update for February as mortgage payment has just gone through:
January 2013 - £118k / £418 / £13.95
February 2013 - £117k / £393 / £13.11
Big milestone this month as for the first time more of the monthly payment is going on paying off the capital than interest, woohoo! Also under £400 barrier.early retirement wannabe0 -
Had plumbers around this morning they replaced the cold water valve. 30mins work and £60 later we have working washing machine. Sigh of relief and means we can move on with getting the flooring laid. Hopefully get quote today from floor specialist who came around yesterday.
Thinking of engineered wood, 15m2 so not a huge amount needed but probably still looking at £400 for the wood and £400 for labour.
It's turning out to be expensive year so far!early retirement wannabe0 -
So I've played around with my mortgage app on ipad and have produced these charts which show original mortgage (blue) verses the overpayment schedule (pink)
Balance
Interest Paid
Its a great app and allows you to compare difference mortgage scenarios, add overpayment schedules etc. Really helps seeing the visual difference of overpayments.early retirement wannabe0 -
Very impressive :j (both figure wise and pretty wise
)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

So today we popped up the road to a flooring supplier to check out the engineered wood we are going to have fitted in the kitchen and hallway.
We met the fitter there, he seems really nice, agreed the price and he starts Monday to lay some levelling latex and will finish on Tuesyda.
Can't wait as the difference it will make will be so much better than old lino!
Will post a before and after pic next week.early retirement wannabe0 -
So came home to the completed flooring today. The fitter was excellent a real joy to have around the house. Floor looks fantastic and makes a world of difference to the warmth underfoot and the overall feel to the downstairs.
One more tick off the list of things to do around the house.early retirement wannabe0 -
Spent some time over the weekend resorting my finances. I use First Directs online money manager (don't bank with them but their tool is useful) but as I had a new PC it lost all of the login details. Spent well over an hour trying to find / remember all my logins for various accounts.
Made me realise a) I need to consolidate some of the accounts and b) the existing login / authentication system for websites are broken. We all end up forgetting logins, or using the same logins or screaming at the 3 or 4 step process just to access our accounts.
Roll on quick, reliable bio-metric logins I say.
This process also made me realise that I'm getting miserly rates for my ISA and instant saver accounts. Time to check out Martin's recommedations.early retirement wannabe0 -
Managed to get the fridge freezer delivered free by the man who did the flooring. Cost us £25 and its in perfect condition. The guy selling wanted to get shot as he was divorcing. Kitchen looking a hundred times better now.
Also means we want to spend more time cooking so less on meals out and takeaways (not that we're big takeaway eaters).early retirement wannabe0
