Npower - charging day/night units wrong way round
Hi All,
just had a letter from Npower saying they have charged me for day/night units the wrong way round since Nov 2007!
They have written off the the amount (£700) from Nov 07 till Feb 10 due to "the code of practice for accurate bills"
I now have an add-on bill of £230 for 12 months to bring the account up to date that I can pay over 12.24.or 36 months.
Is this the norm? I am going to review the figures with my last bills, but if anyone has had the same can you let me know what you have done ?
Thanks.

This happens quite a bit with economy 7 tariffs.
They have applied the code of practice that states they should not back-bill for more than 12 months where they are at fault and no bill was raised.
Much as it grieves me to say anything nice about NPower, that is a very fair gesture. Other companies have not been so generous. Their argument was you received bills and didn't check the meter readings, so are liable for the whole amount back to Nov 07(in your case)
To have £700 written off and time to pay the £230 is generous.0 -
Thanks for the reply, I thought this would be the case. Just got to check my old bills to ensure that it looks OK.
No wonder the DD for Gas + eleccy is at £32 at the moment!0 -
And remember to read your own meters every 3 months in future. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Perhaps more a result of a lesson taught them by Mr Poncelot rather than them being genuinely nice do you think? :rotfl:
