I've not opened the box, does it come with one control, does he need two?Would Kinect joyride be a suitable game? He loves football, would fifa game be ok?Do i need to get any thing else.Sorry if this sounds a bit thick but i've never played a console in my life and this is all a bit alien to me.Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, it comes with only one controller so if he's likely to want to play against other people it's best to purchase another. I'd also suggest getting some rechargeable batteries as the controllers go through a lot of batteries. If you don't want rechargeable batteries there is always - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d.html/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/275-2096661-3009201?a=B000AYS8FK I haven't got it myself but I've been told they're very good.
Fifa is probably the best football game (I don't have it as I'm not a football fan) and Joyride is probably suitable for somebody of his age, I had a go on a trial of it and it was quite fun. The kinect should come with kinect adventures which would probably be fun for him too. If you're not sure which games to get you could get him a gift card and let him choose the games himself? HTH0 -
Thanks for taking time to reply. Will probably get rechargable batterries as you suggest.
Can anyone recomend any other games for his age (8).:)0 -
All the lego games are accessible for the whole family - there is star wars, indiana jones, harry potter, batman (you could join in this one with him my DD (9) and I love playing them on a rainy day) like this

Can I make the suggestion of looking at pre-owned games in game/gamestation/asda? As a family of "gamers" we often find paying full price for any game hard going and not all games are pick up and play, and preowned games play just as well without feeling as though you have spent £40 for nothing.
Another option is if you have a blockbuster or similiar nearby as they rent games for about £6/7 per wk and this gives you the chance to see what he really likes. For example my eldest has been a sonic fan, dd loves lego games and platforms like most harry potter but I like role playing games - maybe your son may like sports games.
As you get used to having the console you may find that you run out of memory as 4gb is not a lot of space for the 360 - there's an option to buy a bigger harddrive, but check out second hand drives on ebay etc first as it can be expensive.
Are you connecting the box to the internet?0 -

Definitely buy the games pre-owned or from ebay - and re-sell them on ebay afterwards. They sell really well just before Christmas and then you clear space for new gamesAlso, I think if you buy a brand new game from Gamestation you can try it for 10 days and return it if you don't like it / its not suitable. I'm not 100% sure but my brother tells me this is still the case.
And if you decide to sign up to xbox live, you can get a lot of the content for free with Silver Membership and a lot of games have voucher codes in them for a 1 month free trial of Gold Membership so you can save this for when you want to play online / download content.0
