Just thought of another thing. Go to your local Pets at Home store and sign up to their twice/thrice yearly leaflet - its free - and you will get money off coupons regularly. I've just received some which includes £4 off Pro Plan Cat (1.5kg bag)

Where I am theres a waiting list a mile long for them. Hence ive had to go to a private seller whhich I was werey of. I neednt be though. They are only 2 weeks old at the moment and readt near Christmas and ive already been to see them. Im also going to see them again on Saturday. Its a l;ovely clean house where they are being reared and really nice people as well. The next challenge is going to be thinking of names for them. Ive looked into the costs of getting them spayed which I thought was reasonadle and less than what I though but the costs of the jabs gave me a suprise!
We were like that - we live on a farm and have about 30 cats roaming around, i've managed to tame 6 of them, now need to raise the funds to have them spayed. We had triplet kittens who I took in, asked for all the shots needed as I was new to cats, 2 each - £100, then 2 months later, one died, and another was severely fading fast, went back to the vets - they'd forgotton a cat flu vaccine virus, so I ended up losing 2 of the kittens

Just thought of something else!!!! When our two Danes were spayed we found out that our local vet was going to charge us £195 per dog because they are big dogs and this particular vet changed the price depending on the weight of the animal. We phoned another vet in a local village who quoted £135 per dog. We phoned our original vets back and told them that if they couldn't match the quote we would be registering elsewhere and they matched the quote. If you think about it two young animals and all the yearly jabs etc etc its worth while phoning around explaining that this could be the start of a very profitable relationship and it would be worthwhile keeping their costs realistic and don't forget to barter. You're not going to lose anything if they say no are you!!;)0

If you're on benefits, or a full-time student, you may be able to get financial help with the neutering. See this page, from the Cats Protection website:
http://www.cats.org.uk/workwedo/neutering_financial.asp
Also, I think I read about a scheme in which, during December, people on certain benefits can get their cats neutered for £5 (it might be something similar to the link above) but I can't remember where I saw this. Anyone else heard of this scheme?0 -

just a tip ring around before you have them neutered/innoculuated as it varies from vet to vet. Just ring for an estimate I always do and saved quite a bit.0 -
