Mensa Details

What number is missing from this sequence:-

3 . 12 . 11 . 56 . 19 . ? . 27 . 240

Highlight the next lines for my suggested answer:-

Answer = 132

because 56 = 12 + (4x11) then 56 + (4x19) = 132 and 132 + (4x27) = 240

(in case anybody wants to try it themselves)

Subject: March 2011 Prize Puzzle - Mensa Website Competition

Congratulations to last month's winners: O Cumberbatch, Hertfordshire and C Smith, Teignmouth. The correct answer was: Stella is 20 and married to Edward. The alphabetical position of the second letter gives the age and the third letter is the same as the initial of their husband’s name.

    Yeah, I get that too. It's 3 x 4, then (3+11) x 4, (3+11+19) x 4 = 132, then (3+11+19+27) x 4.

    Thanks One-Eye :)

    Hi Widelats - I always hide the answer by printing it in white when I post these as some compers like having a go themselves first. If you click and hold your mouse button down on the word "Highlight" in my post then drag the mouse down the page the answer will be revealed.
