in Cutting tax
I have just received a P800 (never had one before) for tax year 2008-2009.
It says i have a repayment due of £442.62, does that mean they owe me this? or do i have to pay them the amount?
If its due to me, will it come through as a cheque as i am not working and on benefits.
The letter is dated 23/02/2011 and i have just received it today.
Tried ringing tax office but after 30 minutes on hold i have given up.
Thanks

A repayment (there's probably a '16' to the right hand side of the final computation line on the P800) means they are paying you money you've overpaid.
If you look at the P800 Notes you also received - and the covering note with your address on ....... it will tell you that a cheque will be received within 14 (?) days.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
