Don't run yourself down all the time. You're still a strong person, as you are looking at a way to get rid of all the debts and 'solve' the depression/panic attacks. I admire your confidence in standing up, admitting you have problems and wanting to do something about it.

Take each day as it comes and try and do something positive each week. Even if it's just spring cleaning a room, it'll give you a buzz and help you focus on the good things in life. I promise it will get better with time, and I'm 'living proof' that it does!

    Thinking of you.

Thank you very much for your kind words. xxx
  • Becles is right, you're not alone and although it might not seem like it now, things do get better Jumanji.

I know it's hard focussing on health and money problems at the moment and at the same time, but have you been to the no panic site here: http://www.nopanic.org.uk/

    It's well worth looking at.

Take care and I know more people will be along with suggestions, regarding both problems.
  • Ive said it before and I will say it again, I feel for you. Dont take this as meaning I pity you though :)

I am currently off work and have depression also (caused 99% by work) and can hardly face the thought of going back there, so I understand a little of what it feels like for you on that side of things. As much as you need the money, there is no point risking your health by going into a job that makes you ill. You could try and get something less stressful and easier, maybe part time, when you feel up to it of course.

The occupational health nurse is coming to see me tomorrow and Im praying the snow gets worse and she cancels. I have no idea what she or I is going to say, and am not looking forward to it.

Try and relax a little if you can, and see what the debt management people have to say. You may be surprised, and you have taken great steps in getting the problem solved. It will be a long and hard road, but just think practically about how great it will be to finally lose the debt and get on with your lives. It can happen, and you seem determined to make it happen. Hang on in there, and we are all here for you if you want to talk, vent or spill your guts to :p

    Hi Jumanji,

It's good to talk isn't, you will get trough it all with a little help from your husband and all the caring people on this posting, we all know what it is like to be in financial difficulties trough one reason or another, me for one!

Once everything is in to place it will be time to book a weekend away somewhere...mmmmm...Amsterdam springs to mind right now! You must find some time for yourselves!.....Sorry about that got carried away there!

    Take care and god bless,

    Johan

They have massive debts and the prospect of very little income. I'm sure you meant well, but the cost of a weekend abroad could only be funded by more debt and that does little to deal with the root problem.

Bless - but it's not a great idea

LOL, A weekend away is a lovely idea though, maybe something to work for when the debt is settled.

For now how about a walk through the snowdrops, always makes me feel better :)

  • I would like to recommend a book "Tapping the Healer Within" by Roger Callahan.
Perhaps you can get it from the library, ISBN 0-7499-2232-X
It explains how to use Thought Field Therapy to conquer, fears anxieties and emotional distress. You might have seen some hypnotherapists on TV using it, basically you tap various points on your body. Not sure how it works , but it does.
Sending you thoughts of love, abundance and positivity.
  • Is a Pre Payment Certicate for your perscriptions worth looking at? It's £33.40 for 4 months or £91.80 for a year. you can get more info at http://www.ppa.org.uk/ppa/ppc_intro.htm and there is a link where you can find out if you are intitled to free perscriptions.
Hope it is of some help
  • Thank you all for your help. I have just got off the phone to the National Debtline.

They have advised me that the advise given to my by Accuma is very bad, and incorrect advice. They have told me that we need to go bankrupt. Apparently we should have been given that advice by Accuma in the first place as we rent and don't own our home.

I was worried about my partner being a self employed driving instructor, and they said that as he doesn't own a business it doesn't really effect him too much.

I also told them that I was worried about the fact that we haven't made any payments this month on the advice of Accuma. National Debtline have said that as we're going bankrupt it would all be dead money anyway, so just let the creditors know we're going bankrupt and they won't be receiving any payments. They will still write and constantly phone, but other then that they are quite limited in what they can do.

With regards to renting, our landlady is selling the house so we have to be out by May 10th. Therefore we are hoping to rent a property with the same letting agents as then we don't have to find a deposit. I have told the letting agent that we are looking at going bankrupt. They have no problem with it, but it depends on the actual landlord as to whether they will let us rent their propert. So just in case, I have spoken to the Council and am going in to see them this week to talk to them and see if there is anything they can do to help us.

With regards to work, my doctor has signed me off like I have said, and as I am in my 6 month probabtion period I am likely to lose my job. So once my doctor has said that I am fit to go back to work, I'm going to find a part time job to ease me into it.

Thank you for the information regarding prescriptions. I'm going to work out exactly how many I get a month and which "season ticket" is the best option.

What do you all think about this "breakthrough"?

I think it sounds like excellent advice and I think you will probably sleep a lot better tonight.

Good luck to you and I wish you all the best.
