Help...in a right mess

Been burying our heads in the sand for years as we both work and credit has been avaliable to us. We got stitched big time on a big loan which went from 25k to 50k although that is another issue.
We have 43k left which is a secured loan on the house which leaves us with no equity. We also have 60k in unsecured loans ( 25k ) is from a family member.
We have had bad advice from day 1 and made the wrong decisions. We are in such a mess and it came to a head when i wanted to do myself in so the Life ins would clear this mess for my wife and son. We both work really hard in stresfull jobs but what for ? to have more go out than comes in. my biggest worry is the family member loan. I am on the edge and don't want this any more i want to have a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, can anyone point me in the right direction ?:(

Hi
Listen I was in your shoes and believe me my thoughts were exactly like yours. I went to my local CAB and they were fantastic they referred me to payplan who are also brilliant. Please dont give up, I know how you feel. I was also given the wrong advice from day one and my debt figure is not much different from yours. What is important is your wife and child and your stae of mind. PLEASE PLEASE get yourself down to your local CAB, you also need to let your GP know how you are feeling as there so its registered. There are rules that creditors must follow if you are depressed and not coping.
I really hope this helps, Please dont give up xx0 -

sorry to hear about your situations, but dont give up. Your health, life and family are more important than your debt. Maybe take a look here. Fill in a SOA here and post the results on here. Many of us have been in the same situation or even worse, and there are many people on here who will be happy to help. Keep positive.0 -
Hi,
Please try to remember that the most important thing for your wife and son is you - they need and want you to be around.
It sounds like you're in a difficult situation but you do still have options. Like the others have said you need to try and access specialist advice and support. We've been in a really tough debt situation and found CCCS brilliant to talk to and they gave us our options in a straightforward and non-judgemental way. They don't charge for their services as they are a charity and they really know their stuff.
Please try and get some support. No amount of debt is worth you ending it all - your family need you.
Let us know how things go. Best of luck.0 -
Thank you all for your support, i can cope with any mental issue ( just ) i just need to sort out the debt and one will help the other.
I want to protect my family and give us a little bit of happiness. I am prepared for a hard slog to give us that. I just need the energy for it and a bit of light will give me that.
I will contact the c.a.b and see where that leads me.
Many thanks
ill let you know_pale_0 -
Hello again Toneog
I am not an expert in all the different debt options. Our experience has been that going onto a debt management plan (DMP) has been an absolute godsend and such a relief. The stress levels have dropped considerably. Yes it's hard work sometimes but nothing compared to the stress we were under.
You're right, you will feel so much better when you can properly consider your options (with expert help) and get a plan or strategy in place.
(Nothing to stop you contacting CCCS too :
Free debt help and advice for UK debt problems - get debt free with Consumer Credit Counselling Service.
www.cccs.co.uk
But their website is down right now!)
Also, at the top of the main Debt Free Wanabee page here, there is a thread called something like 'ask a debt advisor a question' and the CCCS debt advisors respond there to specific queries.
Very best of luck.0
