Barclaycard

Hi All,

I recently wrote to my creditors as per the advice I was given by CCCS because I can no longer maintain my minimum payments due to unemployment.

I requested a Temporary Payment Arrangement and all have agreed except for Barclaycard. They have now involved a debt recovery firm called Mercers in Liverpool and they keep returning the payments I send them.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do.

Thanks

Have they said why they are returning them?

Mercers are not a debt recovery company. They are just Barclaycard using a different trading name to try to put the 'frighteners' on you.

I would be tempted to just make the payments direct to Barclaycard.

I make the payments direct to Barclaycard by bank transfer and I am using the account details on the bill. After 2 days the money is put back in to my bank account!

Fine...then don't bother :-) The disadvantage of paying a company less than the minimum without agreement is that they can continue to add charges. If they don't want to play nice, then the other option is simply to let the account fall into default. Yes, this can impact your credit rating, but if they're not prepared to accept your attempts to pay, then why keep trying?

Keep records of the dates you've attempted to make payments, and notes (as detailed as you can remember) about dates you contacted them and what was said. If they attempt to get a CCJ, take all the evidence that you tried not only to reach an agreement, but also to pay, to court with you, and request that the court write off any interest charges and other fees that have been applied since you advised them that you were suffering financial hardship.

Is there not a cccs advisor on this forum.. maybe they will advise you
if not give them a call

id be tempted to send them postal orders or through the bank as payment so you have proof .. if you say the online bank payments keep being returned maybe wrong banking details

im having problems with barclaycard as well the last 6 weeks ..they keep denying CAB have sent the info they needed ..i had been on a repayment plan but they decided they wanted more money and wanted a new I&E ..they are now demanding full payment and added interest to this months statement

They also sent a letter out yesterday giving me 14 days to reply from date of this letter (which was dated 20th february) ..they are a nightmare

I've previously had online payments I tried to make to barclaycard returned - never found out why and they were accepted the next month. Have you tried doing it through barclaycard's website?

We're having a nightmare with Barclays - CCCS have now reissued all the documents etc to Barclaycard three times. Barclaycard still insist they have received nothing. At first they even claimed that they weren't receiving payments even though we could see them on the statements!

We've been doing this since Oct and we still don't know where the hell we stand with them this is on two Barclaycards and Barclays Partner Finance. They make up a third of my OH's creditors :-(

Absolutely useless and we don't really know what to do next. All these documents, letters, phone calls and we're no further forward!

Had a letter from Mercers today acknowledging my letter and SOA as per CCCS. They have however not mentioned my offer of £5 a month until I get another job and want me to ring them to discuss a repayment plan.

Has anyone had dealing with Mercers and do they try and get more money out of you as my letter stated I can only afford now £5 per month and this will get if I get my job offer. They want me to ring within the next 14 days or they will send someone round to my house!

What should I do any advice is most welcome.

They will always try. Their job is to try to bully more money out of you, so the most important thing is to ignore their requests for you to ring them.

It's amazingly unlikely that they will send someone, but if they do then you can just tell them to "bog off" and write to you.

Just keep paying what you have offered, keeping a record. If they return it, then that's their own stupidity.

I am also having the same issues over my barclaycard with this company Mercers. I have tried solving the issue with them as I am unemployed due to losing my job on xmas eve. They were not helpful at all and are now phoning me at least 15 times a day starting at 8 in the morning til 9 at night and I am not answering them at all. I tried to solve it but they would accept nothing so as far as I'm concerned they can whistle. They cant have what I havent got

that is harcessment (spellings off) , it is agains the OFt ruling,
write them a letter, tell them you will report them to OFt, for keep ringing you, also do not sign your name, only print it..best of luck, send them token payment what you can afford etc..until things change
