Utility Account reporting on Credit File?

Hi

I am hoping someone will be able to answer my query. I have noticed on my credit report that my British Gas account is shown. This is the only one of my utility accounts that is shown and I am just curious why my electricity supplier, water and phone supplier are not showing as well.

Any ideas?

It seems to vary, traditionally utility companies did not report and never had it in your contract that they could (they basically hadn't asked your pernission).
However more of them now seem to be seeking permission when you sign up with them - although some will only report if there is something negative to enter (but not just your usual pattern).

Thank you Tixy, seems a bit unfair that they do though. The way in which these accounts are paid do vary and sometimes my utility accounts show me as being in debit but that is all based on what they have suggested I pay each month and also it depends on what time of year it is (using more gas in winter).

Oh well nothing for me to worry about but just thought it was a bit strange. Will certainly be looking out for that permission when I move next month.
