womens pensions and Lloyds Bank

:)My first job was with Lloyds bank when I first left school from 1977-1981. In those days women weren't paid towards their pensions and likewise we did not put a contribution in either.
I am now querying whether this was right as I understand that the Equal Pay Act came in before that.
Advice please as currently only have pension paid for a few years and this would help me a great deal.
Thanks

are you sure you were not allowed to join because of your gender rather than your age or working hours (ie part time)?0

Agree it's more likely to be a part-time issue. My mother-in-law worked part-time for Barclays up to about 1986 and could not join their scheme unless full-time. I think part-timers were allowed in a little later.0

Equal Pay Act is nothing to do with why you weren't allowed to pay in to a pension.
I have a very hazy memory that the Open University were forced to instigate a pension scheme for their part time tutors BUT the part time staff had to pay in a lot of backdated pension contributions so it was a hollow victory.0
