Civil service penions - adding together

Hi there
I wonder if anyone can help me, I've just taken voluntary redundancy from the civil service.I'm 47 and I have a previous period of service from them and they want to know if they should add the periods together.
I'm a bit confused because the first pension is 2K/yr and the second is 10K/yr but if they add them its 14K/yr.
It does seem a no brainer but not sure whether there are any risks to this?
Thanks for your help, it's been tough time so any help is appreciated.

As it's a final salary pension they are asking if they should add those previous years to the current years. This will then mean that all the years are based on your current salary as opposed to some years at the lower ( presumably) salary from your last service. It does seem a no brainer but not sure whether there are any risks to this?
If they have given you the actual figures in writing there should be no risk.0 -

Thanks for the replies
The current rules are that the pension would be paid out at 60.0
