Hi Gucci_Princess,
What about soup, prawns in garlic butter served with salad, stuffed half pepper, stuffed mushrooms, tricolore, bruchetta, pate and melba toast, or mushrooms with a garlic or chilli mayo?
This thread has lots more ideas:
Starters
I'll add your thread to it once you've had more ideas to keep the suggestions together.

Do you need a starter? Couldn't you do with a nice meze platter for you to pick at while you finish cooking?
Italian one - salami, mozarella pearls, good anchovies from the deli counter, proscuitto, olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping, nice tiny tomatos, breadsticks/ciabatta
More Greek/Southern med - fetta, hummous, olives, warm pitta slices, felafel, taramasalata, giant beans in tomato sauce (tinned).
Spanish - chorizo, posh almonds, manchego cheese, octopus from a tin, bread, olives.....
Less work more fun!Well behaved women rarely make history.0 -
How about some raw veggies with dips - like sliced peppers, small florettes of broc or cauli, cherry toms etc etc also some crisps or Pr***les. You could serve them as nibbles before the meal. easy to make ahead of time too.0

I agree with Radio Helen in that a starter would be quite heavy before that substantial meal. How about smoked salmon starter- there was a lovely one in Sainsbury mag. that we did at Christmas with chillies and soda bread? Enjoy the celebrations whatever you decide!0

I might try the itailian picky stuff. I have a few fussy eaters so that may be best.0
