Looking on my credit report i have found CCJ,phoned up Northampton County Court with case No. as we didnt know with what it was concerning. They told me i had to ring Manchester County Court, who told me it was RCI Financial, with whom we had finance with for car. They were RFS when we took the agreement out, we did fall behind with the payments by about 5 payments. To clear this debt which is about 4 years ago now i lent the money off my parents, so to me the debt was long settled. I have had no correspondence since paying what my parents lent me. I can only presume that when they changed from RFS to RCI some confusion on their part occured. I have been told to send Bermans solicitors my query in writing. woke up with intention of paying CCJ, but when i found out who it was i didnt because to me its paid. Hands up been half soaked when lent money to pay it, and never gave any correspondence a thought,should have got payment number, but like i said after paying it over phone never heard off them again, until checking credit report to see this CCJ.

You need to get a copy of the judgement to see all the details of the claim. The court should be able to provide you with this. I would get this before you send a query to the solics.

Can you see the payment on your bank statement and the date of the payment to prove that you paid that amount?
What date was the CCJ and how does this compare to the date of your payment? How did you decide how much to pay when you settled the account? did you have a letter from them to say how much was owed or would if have just been what you were told on the phone?

Have you moved address since you were last contacted by the finance co?

Iwill phone court again and ask for a copy. I paid the amount in Summer 2008 judgment dated march 2009. Iwill have to get in touch with bank for payment record. The amount was to settle debt, we have not moved house so address is same.
