    You seem to be confused with paying of debt quicker with costing a fortune. it actualy costs you less overall.

    Anyway if they let him take over the loan he must have had a fairly decent salary. £12k=5% 95%=£218k(should be down to around £198k by now on repayment.)

    Which suggest £50k ish salary on 4* multiple

    And now we have yours to add to the pot

    What's getting spent on that you are strugling and can only find another £40

    Another question what are you brining to this?
    You moan about this other erson being able to swan off and buy a house but you seen to be getting one for free.
  • We are not expecting her to take a hit. If we could swap my name for hers, we would. Her credit rating is affected due to her having this loan outstanding, not ours so why is it up to us to pay 100% of the loan off?

    Ok probably worded wrongly earlier, but we cannot afford more expensive repayments a month as we have other outgoings, including an expensive mortgage (this is now fixed until 2014 I have just found out) and my partner is still paying off debts amounted by her, that he felt right to take on due to him bringing about the end of the relationship.

    I am certainly not getting a house for free, in fact I pay out for far more than I probably should whilst not being name on the house.

    I must also add, if three years ago my partner had chosen to sell the house rather than take the mortgage on, they would have both ended up with over 10k debt, as at the time they would have lost money on the house.
